Algeria is a very excellent risk. After their draw against Sierra Leone (0-0), the Fennecs lost to Equatorial Guinea (1-0) and will have to beat Côte d'Ivoire, Thursday during the last day, to hopefully fully see the round of 16.

Promote had however started well for Algeria. Dominators without appeal, the Algerians, authors of a very good first half-hour, could have been rewarded by a, however, if that of Bounedjah in the 22nd had not been refused for an offside position. But the balance of the first period was to the advantage of Equatorial Guinea, with two clear events by Garnet on a free overthrow (37th), and Salvador (40th). A rather reassuring first period, despite the promotion, for Algeria, which found the aggressiveness that had been lacking against Sierra Leone.

The Algerians were victims of a hard head upset at the start of the second half, with the injury of their focal defender Benlamri. But the second hard upset, sounding like a thunderous overthrow, came at the 70th moment when Obiang beat M'Boulhi and gave Obiang's men the lead. Those of Belmadi pushed and multiplied the opportunities, including an unmissable one from Islam Slimani (83rd). Belaïli found the net a minute later but was ruled out for an offside position. After that, a leg, a body, a goalkeeper, afoot, came a visit to visit to push back the offensives and to destroy the Algerian hopes.

The defending champions lose 1-0 and are in great peril before taking on Ivory Coast on Thursday, the final day. A defeat that also puts the blade to a series of 35 consecutive matches without defeat for the Fennecs, who fail two lengths from the world record of Italy.
